HAVE YOU MET MISS JAMES?
15, 22 & 29 SEPTEMBER 2007
On
the back of her recent trip to New York, Erin James
makes her extraordinary cabaret debut, exploring the worlds in which
she exists -
the glittering world of 'dreams come true' and the simple
land of 'reality'.
Featuring
an array of well-known standards as well as a selection of rarities,
Newcastle-born Erin presents songs from her showcase performance that
wowed some of New York cabaret's biggest names.
With
tales to tell from the trip of a lifetime, Erin brings to an audience
everything from stirring inspirational stories,
to late night hospital
visits and her residency at Starbucks.
Come meet Miss James - you won't regret it!
A
graduate of the Talent Development Project (2002), Erin was a recent
recipient of the Bound For Broadway (TDP/ASCAP) scholarship
which saw
her embark on a four week tour to New York City.
Her scholarship
involved master classes and workshops with industry professionals and
culminated in a solo cabaret
showcase presentation at Don’t Tell Mama,
NY.
"Erin James fills the stage with her charm, her thrilling voice
(the next Jill Perryman?) and, boy oh boy, can she dance!" ~ The
West Australian

In her brand new show
international performer and actress Natalie Gamsu returns to the intimacy of
cabaret after an interlude in musical theatre.
Hallelujah
to Her celebrates women with all their quirks taking us on a
magical journey as the curator of a cast of crazy characters and
stories.
Bound together
by a string of anthem - like rock classics, from Led Zepplin to
Sondheim to Charles Aznavour…these characters come to life and
reveal themselves in the most surprising way... from a Southern
hysteric, to a girl with no lip to ‘botoxed Betty’.
"...Natalie
Gamsu is one of the most extraordinary talents...a combination of dark,
rich mezzo-to-contralto-range pipes; an ability to perform brilliantly
in several musical styles; and a talent for both drama and comedy. Martin

International
Cabaret artist, Chelsea Plumley returns to Australia
to perform two exclusive engagements at the Statement Lounge Monday 9
& 16 July.
Chelsea
Plumley’s show Gorgeous is the culmination of 3 years
treading the Cabaret boards in London.
From
storytelling to stand-up, “Gorgeous” is an
exhilarating show that is full of surprising twists and turns.
Plumley is a rare artist who bares herself completely on stage,
creating incredible intimacy with the audience. The sheer force
of Plumley’s personality is mesmerising as she darts from
dazzling Broadway tunes centre stage to comedic ditties deftly executed
from the piano.
Chelsea
Plumley will be accompanied by a 3 piece band.
What
critics have said about Plumley:
“Chelsea
Plumley is a delicate whirlwind of a performer who often accompanies
herself, sings like a demon and has an extraordinary way with
comedy.” – Cabaret Scenes, New York
“She
connects with honesty, stuns with sudden turns into melancholy...and
exhilarates with laughter.” – Cabaret Scenes, New York
“Abundant
natural talent as a singer, actress and pianist...but it is her cheeky
humour that sets her apart.” – The Melbourne Age
“What
a voice! She could have thrown out her microphone and we
wouldn’t have missed a thing!”– Homodish New York

Genevieve Lemon (Priscilla - The Musical, Sweetie) and Josh Quong Tart
(Troupers, All Saints) star in the acclaimed cabaret Lemon Tart,
directed by theatre legend Tony Sheldon.
Seemingly sweet but with a tangy aftertaste, Lemon Tart is a
sensational 80 minutes of gender-flip with Lemon doing the boys' songs
and Tart doing the girls' songs. Lemon Tart puts its spin on music from
artists like Doris Day, Midnight Oil, Martha Wainwright, Billy
Strayhorn and everything in between.

23 - 25
NOVEMBER 2006
How healthy is
your heart?
Saskia Smith rips open her
chest and dissects the heart, our most vital organ, and its
incredible impact on our daily lives.
After a sell-out
season last year at the Old Fitzroy Theatre, HEART WITH A GIRL OF
GOLD comes to the Statement Bar to take a deeper look at what lies in
our hearts; how they work, why they stop working, what they feel
and remember and - of course - the heart's experience of the
perils of love.
Saskia's recent stage
credits include Cabaret, Dirty Dancing and the Bell Shakespeare
Company's production of The Tempest, playing Ariel to John Bell's
Prospero. In 2005 she studied in New York and Paris with tutors
including Micheline van Heutem, Caroline Nin and Ulli
Geisendorfer, Ute Lemper's former musical director.
Down hearted, heavy hearted,
lonely hearted or even if you have a heart of gold, now is chance
to find out exactly why...
